FRIENDS is one of the most re-watched television series. All of us have watched it so many times that we can literally speak dialogues with the actors. We can’t give anyone or two features the credit for the show’s success. The show is perfect in its own ways. Especially the emotional moments portrayed in the show won everyone’s hearts. Sometimes they made us smile, sometimes cry, and sometimes both, at the same time. Let’s take a look at some of these emotional moments from this great show.
People who didn’t get emotional even for a moment at this scene need to see a counselor. Exhausted Chandler, after trying to find Monica everywhere, failed and came home finally. Regretting, he entered the room and saw the entire apartment decorated with candles, and there stood Monica, in the middle of the apartment, wearing her beautiful red dress, eyes filled with tears, blubbered, “You wanted this to be a surprise.” I’m literally having goosebumps writing this, and you must be having it while reading it. This was such a wholesome and probably the most emotional and perfect moment of the whole series.
I really really cried a whole bucket when this happened. After delivering her brother’s triplets, we know how creepy this sounds, Phoebe wanted to have a moment of alone time with just born infants. She took them all together in her hands, looked and adored them with her eyes filled with motherly love, and realized that she has to give them up soon, we felt exactly what Phoebe felt.
Ross was trying hard to follow the chain and make sure that Rachel doesn’t find out about him sleeping with somebody else, but eventually fails. Learning that Gunther told Rachel about it when Ross turned his back and found Rachel sitting on a coffee table, with a pale face, broken-hearted and utter disappointment & sadness in her eyes. The look Rachel had on her face made us all feel the pain she was going through.
It was really heart-breaking. Especially when Chandler moved forward and hugged Monica and both of them said sorry. This moment not only did break Monica’s heart who wanted to be a mother since the beginning of the series but also Chandler and the audience’s heart as well. Though there were jokes in the scene, none of them were able to stop us from crying in this scene.
After repressing his feelings for a very long time, Joey finally confessed his love for Rachel, and when she replied, “I love you too, but…” and Joey replied “But.”, we all felt the pain in Joey’s voice. After being named as “playboy” for the entire series, and eventually falling in love with a woman, being refused by her was probably the harshest thing that may ever happen to a guy.
“It’s like the end of an era.”, said Rachel while sobbing, “I know right?” replied Monica crying. Two high school best friends who started living together, and after years of time, when one of them has to move out, this actually breaks anyone’s heart. Especially when the friendship was as special and intense as Rachel and Monica’s.
When Phoebe says “it’s negative” and Rachel starts crying over “something she never had” but when Phoebe says that Rachel is pregnant, the girls start screaming with joy, even Monica doesn’t care about “Rachel stealing her thunder” and they celebrated this moment together.
Well, none of us can imagine Joey moving out, and completely living on his own, even when he tries it doesn’t work out right? Joey’s this failed attempt of moving out and living alone, especially without Chandler hurt not only Chandler but Joey too, though he may not admit it. After moving out, he realized how it actually was, living alone without Chandler, and both the guys miss each other and look out of the window while the rain is pouring.
When it comes to Mondler, there are innumerable emotional and beautiful moments. One of them is when Erica refused to give her baby to Mondler as they lied to her, and Chandler was trying to convince Erica, actually begging her, to let them have the child. And when he said, “My wife, she’s already a mother without a child”, Chandler broke as well as won everyone’s hearts.
Phoebe just parted with the guy she was in love with, and Joey walks in. She was expecting him to be mad at her, but she had no energy left for that. But instead of being mad at her, Joey understands what she was going through hugs her, and says nothing. This is the kind of friendship all of us need.
For a moment all of us thought that it was the end, Ross and Rachel are over, but then we hear Rachel’s voice in the background, “I got off the plane”, it was such an emotional and happy moment for all the Roschel fans. Then they kissed each other, and they were together, and Roschel fandom got their happy ending.
Ross tried to convince Rachel not to break up for the whole night, but a broken heart doesn’t listen to reason. Though they ended up together eventually, because “he’s her lobster” (in Phoebe’s voice). But this scene when Rachel asked Ross to leave the apartment, we knew that they were over. Thanks to the writers who ended the series with their unification.
The fact that Courtney Cox (Monica) just lost her baby before shooting this scene made it even more emotional. Monica wanted to be a mother from the beginning of the series, and it was obvious that she already had names prepared for babies, when Rachel and Ross couldn’t come up with a name they both would love, Rachel, asked Monica to give her baby girl name to Rachel’s daughter, though Monica denied it at the first but ended up calling the baby girl “Emma”.
When Rachel discovers the list Ross made to compare her and Julie, she gets hurt immensely. When Ross tried to explain it to her, she replied, “imagine the worst things you think about yourself, the person you trusted the most not only thinks about them too but actually uses them as an excuse not to be with you.” This was such a heartbreaking moment at the beginning of Roschel.
Mondler is the universal couple’s goal for everyone. There were several moments when they made us emotional. One of such is when Chandler was explaining to Monica how he wanted to spend his savings. He was sharing his future plans with Monica and said that he wanted to buy a house where their kids grow up, they’ll have cats as pets, and they’ll have a room in their house where Joey could grow old. After listening to this dialogue, Monica, who had wanted to have a grand wedding since childhood, changed her mind and decided to have a simple and beautiful wedding.

F.R.I.E.N.D.S. and The Big Bang Theory, are the two most famous American sitcoms. These two shows managed to gather love from the audience for more than 10 years. The two shows aired in totally different eras, yet we may find many similarities in these two. Today we’re going to discuss some similarities we found between these two. So let’s get started.
Remember how FRIENDS began? Of course, everyone remembers how it began. Rachel entered the cafe in her wedding dress while everyone else was already there, the group was already made up and Rachel was added after the show began. Now, recall the first episode of The Big Bang Theory. Penny just moved across the hall, and they welcomed her and invited her to dinner. Later she also becomes an inseparable part of their friend’s group, just like Rachel.
‘Central Perk’ in FRIENDS and ‘The Comic Book Store’ in The Big Bang Theory, are go-to places in both the series. Normally FRIENDS will begin at the coffee shop, drinking coffees, and discussing literally anything. We can find the same thing happening at ‘The Comic Book Store’ in TBBT. Nerds normally hang out at the store, sometimes accompanied by the girls too, exactly the same way it happens in FRIENDS.
Not only the places but also the owners of these places represent, to some extent, the same traits. Gunther and Stuart both are bachelors, without any friends, owning these two places. Gunther has a hard crush on Rachel where Stuart is in love with Penny, though the intensity of emotions are different both make us laugh. The difference between these two ways is that the coffee shop earned very well, though Stuart’s store doesn’t work well in the beginning, but eventually lightens up after a tweet. Gunther ends up remaining single and Stuart finds someone with the same weird qualities.
Ross and Leonard both play the same kinda characters. Though almost every character in TBBT is a nerd, Leonard and Ross share many of the same characteristics. Such as beginning, and ending their love life with the same woman, having PhDs, ending up with the beautiful one. They both have many allergies and such.
Penny and Rachel, are probably the worst waitresses existing in the world of sitcoms. They both begin their careers as clumsy waitresses. Both of them got this job because of their good looks. They eventually found a proper career niche and ended up earning a lot. Not just this, both of them married the nerds of the show, Leonard and Ross. Rachel had a baby with Ross accidentally, and Penny also ended up being pregnant with Leonard’s baby after their wedding.
Monica and Bernadette were actually the strongest women compared to all the other female characters in both shows. Bernadette faced every obstacle in her path and overcame it all on her own without anybody’s help. Monica, who could not expect any help from her parents, also fought many problems in her life and eventually finds her happy ending. They both were considered to be a little mean, yet strongest among all the characters.
In FRIENDS we see Chandler & Joey’s apartment across the hall and Monica’s apartment on the opposite side. The same can be observed in TBBT also. Penny lived on the opposite side of the apartment where Leonard & Sheldon lived. Leonard and Penny end up in the same apartment as Chandler and Monica, while Joey gets the other apartment, Sheldon also gets the other apartment, though in a different way.
Whether in FRIENDS or in TBBT, we can see the whole group of friends dining together at one place. In FRIENDS, this dining place is Monica’s apartment whereas, in TBBT, it’s Leonard’s apartment.
Okay, just imagine these two having a conversation lol. Phoebe plays the role of that weird friend, which we all have in our group. The same role is played by Sheldon in TBBT. Though Sheldon is differently weird than Phoebe. Sheldon is also a little bit meanwhile Phoebe is a lovely woman. But, no one can deny the fact they’re weird. And probably the most beloved weirdos.
Chandler and Joey’s bromance is world-famous and sets extraordinary friendship goals among the boys. But, Raj and Howard’s bromance is underrated. Though people even assume that Howard and Raj may have ended up as a romantic couple, hey, this is bromance and not romance. The way Joey cares about Chandler, Raj does the same. Howard and Chandler do not have any similar traits but both of them shared a bromance with Raj and Joey. Howard even stops Raj from marrying Anu as he wasn’t actually in love with her.
Sheldon and Monica cleaning an apartment together? That would be a hell of a scene to watch. While Monica is a neat freak, we all know that Sheldon is also a neat freak. Even I would dare go say that Sheldon cares even more about organizing and cleaning stuff than Monica. They would have been best buddies if these two shows had crossed over.
Chandler is the sarcasm king, and there’s no lying in that. Even fans say that he is the character who defined sarcasm. Chandler always cracks jokes and adds sarcastic comments. It seems like Howard from TBBT is kind of a reflection of Chandler. Though their personalities are entirely different, they both are the joke and sarcasm king in their shows.
Who doesn’t remember Central Perk’s orange couch from FRIENDS? And also how can you forget the couch with Sheldon’s spot? This was another similar thing between these two shows. Both the shows begin with this couch and end with it. I have a feeling that the shows are like the same person in different timelines, quite like Loki and Silvie lol.
If there had been an award for being the meanest mother on the planet, Beverley would have won that award. I mean who treats her own son as an experiment for the whole of his life? And also Monica’s mother isn’t any less mean either. Why would she keep finding faults in Monica while we all know how good and strong Monica is. She even thought that Monica would never end up with someone and so spent all of the savings of her wedding on a beach house. We can go on and on about mean things these two women did to their children. But let’s sum up that they played the role of mean mothers in both series.
“Smelly cat, smelly cat, what are they feeding you?” You probably sang it in the iconic Phoebe Buffay voice right? Yeah, I did the same. Okay, let me give another cat song to you, this one is a bit more soothing, “Soft Kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur. Happy kitty sleepy kitty, pur, pur pur.” Sheldon’s favorite song is only to be sung when somebody is sick. Both shows gave us iconic cat songs.
Though the two shows shared many similarities including plots, characters, etc, both the shows were entirely different. Both of them have millions of viewers and fans. They’re among the most popular sitcoms.

As we’ve seen, Howard was an engineer and had many allergies which wouldn’t allow him to go into space. Even despite these allergies, don’t you think it’s a little impossible that NASA will hire an inexperienced engineer from outside University and not engineers working in their own institutes?
In one of the beginning seasons, we’ve seen Lance Barber as Leonard’s high school bully, who in the 12th season, appears as Sheldon’s father in a VCR. Though he plays the role of Sheldon’s father in ‘Young Sheldon’, we might accept him in that role in another series, but he appears as a different person in the same series. The same person in two different personalities existing in the same universe? Ummm, you have to agree that it’s indigestible.
As we’ve seen in the beginning seasons, Sheldon is allergic to cats but in the fourth season as a reaction to an emotional dilemma, Sheldon buys not only one or two but 6 cats and keeps buying more and more. Though this is a very minor error, it still caught our attention, and we can’t get over it.
In the earlier seasons, Penny and Sheldon confirm that Leonard doesn’t have any snoring issues or problems but in season 8 of the series, we find Leonard going through surgery just to stop his snoring. Though it was fun to see Sheldon going through hell in order to stop him from the surgery.
We know that Kripke and Sheldon can’t stand each other. Kripke tries so many things throughout the series to drive Sheldon mad. One of them is filling the whole room with Helium when Sheldon was giving an interview. The Helium made Sheldon’s voice really hilarious, and it was fun to listen to him but to be serious that amount of helium is actually very dangerous for any human and may lead to death. If you try to play this prank on anyone next show that you don’t end up in jail.
In the earlier season the name of Penny’s dad is displayed as Bob, but in later seasons when her father actually appears his name is Wyatt. Maybe they just didn’t like the name Bob, or maybe they just made another mistake.
Another minor mistake that writers made was portraying the process of winning the Nobel Prize very simple and easy. If you thought for even a moment that it is that easy to win a Nobel Prize, you might be wrong.
We observe Raj speaking Hindi many times throughout the series, yet he keeps saying that he doesn’t know Hindi. Even once he told Leonard that the Hindi word for dog is ‘Kutta’ and after that episode, he again says that he doesn’t know how to speak Hindi.
Bernadette is portrayed as pregnant for the first time on the eve of Valentine’s Day and her baby takes birth in the month of December. The time span of any pregnancy normally is 9 months except you live in The Big Bang Theory world.
This is one of the most ironic mistakes the writers made. We all know how Sheldon had problems understanding sarcasm or sarcastic comments, but Sheldon is the one who makes the most sarcastic remarks throughout the series. Such as Leonard’s Imaginary Children, lol.
It is a fact universally acknowledged that nobody sits in Sheldon’s spot. I repeat nobody. Even if somebody does, we all know how Sheldon reacts. But we see that sometimes no Sheldon doesn’t mind if somebody sits on his spot. Like when they are playing a game and Leonard sits on his spot and Sheldon doesn’t react.
In the beginning season, Leonard mentions to Penny that he had known Joyce Kim for 24 days who later turned out to be a spy, but when the truth about the elevator is revealed Sheldon says that Leonard knew Joyce Kim for just 12 hours.
Leonard mentions in the first season that the elevator broke 2 years back but in the fourth season when the whole theory about how the elevator broke is revealed, they mention that it’s about four years back. The writing team really had some problems in managing the timeline, don’t you think?
It happens so many times that the writers mention something in the earlier seasons and then change it in the later seasons. The same happens about the question of whether Sheldon can dance or not. He says that he doesn’t even want to learn how to dance, but we observe him in later episodes dancing with Amy, and also once when he tried to woo her.
In the fall seasons, Sheldon asks Leonard to pay the rent as he was having a financial crisis and in the second season, we see him lending a large amount of money to Penny. Howard also finds thousands of dollars’ cheques that he hasn’t used yet. So, his financial issues in the first season seem unreasonable.
According to the roommate agreement, every minute Leonard is supposed to give a notice 12 hours before he brings anyone to the apartment. But many times Leonard brings someone over, and Sheldon doesn’t care at all, and sometimes it drives him crazy. So what’s going on?
In this episode, someone steals Sheldon’s weapons in the game, and instead of complaining to Customer care, the gang tracks down the hacker and goes to his home. Simply if they had just called customer care, the whole thing could have been easier. But then we wouldn’t have seen the strong side of Penny so, it’s okay.
The show portrays that in this game, we can do “coitus” with other players while in the actual gameplay, nothing like this happens, and it was just an imagination of writers.
We know that “Raj had a talking problem and a drinking solution”. But you must not have noticed that in the beginning seasons, Raj wasn’t drunk and Penny was there and when Leonard said something mean to him, he spoke to Leonard in front of Penny, even when he was sober. Another minor error.
We all know Mrs. Wolowitz. Howard’s mother is said to be so giant that she doesn’t even fit in the bathtub. While we saw some glimpses of Howard’s mother in the background as well as in background photos, she might be a bit fat but clearly not as much as they narrate her.
These were some minor errors that writers made in the series, but to be honest, it doesn’t matter. The Big Bang Theory is the kind of show that we watch while having dinner or when we are sad or when we are happy. Doesn’t matter how many mistakes they made, it’ll always remain our favorite show.

Shenny moments began from the very first season, in the 11th episode. When Sheldon catches a normal cold, Leonard along with Raj and Howard deserts him because everyone knows how intolerable Sheldon turns into when he’s sick. Alone, Sheldon goes to the Cheesecake Factory where Penny works, to drink soup. From the restaurant, the two decide to leave for a home together. As they reach home, Sheldon demands Penny rub balm on his chest which, unwillingly, she does. After that comes our favorite part when Penny sings soft kitty for Sheldon because he demands it and Penny must agree because he was “sick”.
This is one of the best parts of the entire series, and also my favorite. When Penny gives Sheldon a napkin with Sheldon’s favorite, Leonard Nimoy’s signature, and his DNA (we know what it means) as a Christmas gift, Sheldon feels overwhelmed and gives all the gifts he bought for Penny and yet feels that they can’t be as special compared to what she gifted him. So, as we know Sheldon even sanitizes his hands after barely even touching another human, but to give Penny something as precious as she gifted him, he decides to give her a hug. The first-ever hug, between Sheldon and Penny, and we can literally feel the happiness in Penny’s tone of saying, “Look, Leonard, Sheldon’s hugging me!”. It actually was a “saturnalia miracle”.
How can we forget the moment in which Sheldon sings Soft Kitty? It’s about the episode in which Penny dislocated her hand and Leonard also wasn’t available. So Sheldon took her to the hospital and brought her back, and also Sheldon DROVE THE CAR! This is another miracle in itself, though the actual miracle is yet to come at the end of the episode. When Penny and Sheldon reach home, Penny demands Sheldon to sing Soft Kitty for her as her hand was dislocated, and she was “sick” with drugs, and as our Sheldon was raised to be a perfect gentleman, he couldn’t say no to the woman’s appeal and sung for her.
Euripides was right when he said, “A friend in need is a friend indeed”, and our Sheldon is one of such friends. When he learned that Penny was going through a financial crisis, he offered his savings to her and promised that he wouldn’t force her to pay back. She can return the amount whenever possible. Though Penny felt ashamed of it, Sheldon didn’t even mention the money matter even for once which portrays his quality of a true friend.
Let me remind you of the time when Penny discovered Sheldon’s nickname, by which his Meemaw used to call him in his childhood. Sheldon was out on his way to a destination and required a disk from home, so he called Penny and asked her to go into his room and get the disk, and Penny followed his instructions, but instead of the disk, she found his Meemaw’s old letters in which she was calling Sheldon moonpie, and Penny also called Sheldon ‘Moonpie’ while talking to him on the phone which drove Sheldon mad because “nobody calls him moonpie except his Meemaw”. This shows another fun side of their friendship.
Remember Penny blossoms? I also wished I could have one of those just because my favorite Penny made it. It’s about the time when Penny was asked to provide this hair accessory called ‘Penny blossoms’ to a lady, and Sheldon helped her to set things up for speeding up and also convinced other guys to help her. Though later Penny decided to leave the idea of this business, Sheldon was there to help in this, and they also sang songs together. We all wish to have such a friend.
Once when Sheldon locked himself out of the apartment and had nowhere to go, actually even if he had somewhere to go, he wouldn’t go anywhere as long as Penny would be somewhere around. The same happened and Penny also didn’t have the spare key to their apartment, so Sheldon decided to crash at her apartment while Leonard was away. Well, not just the apartment, her bedroom also because Sheldon wouldn’t sleep on the couch, obviously. So not only did he sleep on her bed while she slept on the couch, but he also made her sing Soft Kitty because he was “Homesick”, and it’s also a type of sickness, and who would dare argue with Sheldon Cooper?
When Bernadette shows interest in Leonard’s work, Penny feels jealous and wants to learn some “science stuff’, as she calls it. So, as always, Sheldon comes to her rescue and teaches her Physics, so she can impress Leonard with this. Though it was a failed attempt, we saw Shenny bonding over and their friendship being developed at the same time.
It happened to be that Leonard wanted to take Penny to Switzerland for a work trip, so they can celebrate Valentine’s day together. Sheldon wanted to go there too, but Leonard wouldn’t take him, so stubborn Sheldon convinced Penny to let him go on her stead and hugged her as a thank you. But what happened after that made me laugh so hard. Penny was infected with a cold at that time, but she wasn’t aware of it and she infected Sheldon too. So both of them ended up celebrating Valentine’s day together, with sickness. Even Penny also had to make soup for both of them.
Sheldon was going to be awarded at the ceremony and had no better clothes to wear, according to Penny. So she took him to buy a new suit which he can wear that evening. Though this might be very normal for all of us, not for Sheldon. In this episode, we saw the growth of their friendship.
As we all know, Sheldon loves spaghetti with little hot dog pieces on it. And especially when Leonard and Penny broke up for the first time, Sheldon thought it would be best to make the bond stronger with Penny, so he invited himself to dinner at Penny’s when he discovered that she was going to make it for dinner. This is one of my favorite scenes of the series. As they were eating dinner together, and Penny was treating him like a child, it actually suited Sheldon’s quote, “I think of you, more like a nanny”.
When Leonard had to go to the Hawking expedition and made Sheldon promise to take care of her, we see another part of the series when Sheldon and Penny are alone and their friendship grows into a very meaningful bond. This is the part when they develop there, to quote Leonard, “brother-sister/ friends relationship”.
When none of the friends show up at Raj’s place for the mystery hunt he decides to create one at Leonard and Penny’s apartment. In this episode, Sheldon and Penny are a team and Penny’s knowledge of pop culture and Street smarts combined with Sheldon’s extraordinary analytical skills made them the winning team. Here, we discovered that Penny and Sheldon can not only make a good team together but also beat up everyone else compared to them.
We all know that many actually came to California to become an actress and shine in Hollywood. Though she works as a waitress at the beginning of her career, later she decides to quit her job and focus on her dreams. Penny and Sheldon conduct an experiment based on the theory of a psychologist to make two people fall in love with each other. They thought they should try it and the result did not love, though it made them feel closer to each other, and we can see an emotional bond growing between them in this episode.
It’s Sheldon’s birthday and everyone decides to celebrate it with a small party with their closest friends. As Sheldon cannot handle the crowd and feels anxiety and flees to the bathroom and doesn’t come out, Penny goes into the bathroom and talks to him and makes him feel comforted. In this episode, we can see the strongest bond of friendship ever seen between them, and it has one of the most precious Shenny moments.
Penny decides to marry Leonard even after learning that he kissed another woman while they were in a relationship, though she was extremely mad about it. So Sheldon suggests that she should kiss another man in order to equalize things. Sheldon was a newly single man, so she kissed him. This was such a cute scene and was largely loved by the audience.
When Penny and Sheldon went to an Ice Cream parlor and Sheldon was trying to find a woman to date, he turned towards Penny and told her why he wouldn’t consider Penny to date. He told her that she was more like a nanny to him. To this, Penny stares at him and asks him to just finish his ice, so she can get him to the bed.
Though Penny’s acting career was not very good, even her boyfriend never believed in her talents. Sheldon was the only one who supported her when it came to her dreams. Once when everyone went to see her performance at a play, she acted so well that Sheldon was stunned by her performance and said that she was remarkable.
It was not like that Amy and Leonard did not believe their lovers nor were they very possessive. But the bond between Sheldon and Penny is so unique and special that the two just felt jealous that none of them can have that bond with Sheldon or Penny. Penny went against her husband and supported Sheldon’s decision to call The roommate agreement meeting and Amy just supported Leonard, so she can go against Sheldon and Penny because she was jealous.
Though there are other remarkable friendships present in the show, this one has gotten the most love among the audience. The chemistry and comic interactions between these two create the most memorable moments throughout the show and become one of the best things about this show.
