FRIENDS is one of the most popular shows of all time. Between 1994 and 2004, the sitcom aired for 10 seasons with an incredible ensemble starring Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Jennifer Aniston, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer. Much of the show dealt with these characters exploring their twenties while living in New York City. And, their love life was a big part of it. FRIENDS is successful all over the globe because of the cast and the characters they played. Throughout the span of the series, all of them went through several relationships, some good and some bad. So, here is the list of Ross’ love interests ranked from best to worst.
10. Carol Willick
Ross’s ex-wife Carol Willick lands in the worst spot on this list. She didn’t treat Ross very well at all and wasn’t exactly a very likable character. She always treated him like a baby and never considered his feelings when he was trying hard to save their marriage. Instead, she cheated on him while they were married. Carol was a pretty awful person and he was much better off without her. However, they managed to be cordial and even friends for the sake of their son, Ben.
9. Janice Hosenstein
Janice is more commonly recognized as one of Chandler’s ex-girlfriends. However, during season 5, she also engaged in a brief fling with Ross. This was during downtime in Ross’ life. So, he went out with a woman that all his friends despised, including him. Janice is definitely a fan favorite because she takes the humor of the show to another level. But when it comes to love interests, she’s not exactly the first pick. Surprisingly, she was the one who broke up with him because he was being “whiney” all the time.
8. Cheryl
Cheryl was a fellow paleontologist that Ross was thrilled about. She was a “hot paleontologist” which apparently is very rare. We didn’t see much of her in the series, but what we did learn was enough to write her off completely. After having a great date, when they went to Cheryl’s place, he realized she was a messy, unhygienic hoarder. She lived in a pile of mess with critters crawling around and clothes were thrown everywhere. She was the complete opposite of Ross who was extremely meticulous and very neat.
7. Emily Waltham
Emily wasn’t a very likable character and her relationship with Ross moved way too fast for viewers. They met in the middle of season 4 and quickly got engaged. By the end of season 4, they were married. Ross didn’t exactly treat her very well and Emily always seemed to complain about something. Constantly, Ross tried to make her feel better and special in one way or another. Early on it became clear their relationship wasn’t going to work out. We are not sure that even Ross wanted it to (said Rachel’s name to the altar). Even though he tried so hard that he didn’t have to label himself as “divorced”, it did happen.
6. Elizabeth Stevens
In season 6 on FRIENDS, Ross ends up, dating one of his students, Elizabeth Stevens. Even though she was cute and nice, she was also not exactly on his level in many ways. It made him the butt of many jokes among his friends. There is not much bad have to say about Elizabeth but she didn’t rank up high either because it was clear from the get-go that she wouldn’t be the woman he ended up with. That is why their relationship didn’t last long. Oddly enough, Rachel ends up, dating Elizabeth’s father.
5. Charlie Wheeler
Fellow paleontologist Charlie Wheeler would have been the perfect match for Ross. However, her behavior on the show wasn’t actually that great. She cheated on Joey by falling for Ross, and then she also went on to cheat on Ross with her ex-boyfriend. Besides this, Charlie and Ross had many shared interests, were attracted to one another, and were on the same intellectual level. Unfortunately, she didn’t seem to know what she wanted. Supposedly, Ross and Charlie would have been great together if she did not cheat on him.
4. Mona
Mona and Ross seemed more like friends than a couple, even though they dated for quite a while in season 8. Their relationship was plagued with unfortunate, but hilarious incidents while they were dating. At first, he found out Rachel was pregnant with his child, and then without informing Mona, he had Rachel move in with him. He continuously forgot about Mona because he was so preoccupied with the baby stuff. Moreover, Mona was a normal girl, who was pretty, and smart. Unfortunately, they broke up after she found out he’d moved Rachel into his apartment. To make matters worse, she found out on Valentine’s Day.
3. Bonnie
Since Bonnie only appeared in three episodes on FRIENDS, viewers didn’t really get a chance to know her. But from what we saw she was pretty great. After Ross’s breakup with Rachel, Phoebe introduced him to Bonnie after asking Rachel. She was beautiful and totally out of Ross’s league. However, she was also a little weird deep down. Rachel schemed against her and convinced Bonnie to shave her head. When Ross finds out about it, Rachel confesses she has feelings for Ross. It leads to the breakup of Ross and Bonnie and also gives Rachel another shot with Ross.
2. Julie
At the beginning of season two, Ross comes back from his business trip with a new girlfriend, Julie. Since Rachel finally learned the truth about Ross’ feelings about her, this torcher her, and in return, she’s developed feelings for him. Besides Rachel’s feelings, Julie and Ross would have been a great couple. Perhaps they would have made it in the long run and also bought a cat together. Julie was kind, nice, sweet, and got along with his friends as well. Unfortunately, there was just one problem that she wasn’t Rachel.
1. Rachel Green
Rachel Green lands in the number one spot on this list. It was clear these two were meant to end up together from the very beginning of the series. Throughout all 10 seasons, they served as one of the main relationships on the show, even though they were technically only a couple for a short period of time. Ross and Rachel are an odd match on paper. They share the same sense of humor and a long history. Eventually, they tied together permanently after having a child together. Undoubtedly, Ross should not have ended up with anyone else.
